Fantasy Football: 5 Options to Replace Carson Wentz in Your Line Up

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that quarterback Carson Wentz does indeed have a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season. It is a huge blow for the Eagles. Wentz was playing at an MVP caliber level and the Eagles look like the team to beat in the NFC.

Fantasy owners who were starting Wentz are also affected by his loss, especially those that are in the playoffs. Replacing his production on your roster will be tough. Here are five quarterbacks that are more than likely available on your league’s waiver wire that you should consider.

1. Nick Foles, Eagles: Why not? People forget how good Foles was in Andy Reid’s offense  in 2013. Foles threw for 2,891 yards and 27 touchdown passes that year. He also took care of the football. Foles only threw 2 interceptions that year. Foles knows the Eagles offense in and out. It is the same system he played in under Reid. Claiming Foles would make the most sense.

2. Jimmy Garopollo, 49ers: Jimmy G has won both of his starts and while it hasn’t been pretty, he has complied decent numbers thus far playing in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Shanahan likes to throw the ball and he moves Garopollo in and out of the pocket which gives Garopollo a chance to make some easy throws. If Foles is not on your wire, Jimmy G would be a wise pick up.

3. Mitchell Trubisky, Bears: The rookie had a breakout performance against the Bengals on Sunday. Trubisky finished 25/32 for 271 yards and a touchdown pass. He is starting to get comfortable in the Bears offense and is a good athlete. Trubisky has the potential to score on the ground as well.

4. DeShone Kizer, Browns: Kizer played well against the Packers and with the return of Josh Gordon, he now has a number receiver that he can throw the ball to. Kizer is also a running threat so there is the possibility he can score on the ground as well. Kizer is getting better with each week and offers some intriguing potential moving forward.

5. Blake Bortles, Jaguars: Bortles has played well for the past five weeks and is peaking at the right time. He is owned in under 30% of all fantasy leagues so he is more than likely sitting on your waiver wire. If Foles is gone, Bortles might be a bad Plan B.
