Fantasy Football: Add Em, Drop Em for Week 5

By John Sarianides

Here are my add, drops for Week 5.

Add Em!

Carson Wentz, QB Eagles: With the bye weeks starting up, Wentz will be a popular pick up this week. I picked him up in one of my leagues as a fill in for Drew Brees. He is still available in 30% of leagues out there.

Eddie Lacy, RB Seahawks: With Chris Carson possibly done for the season and Thomas Rawls being an after thought in the Seahawks offense, Lacy could be a quality pick addition this week. This will be his best chance to make one final impression on the Seahawks coaching staff.

Deshaun Watson, QB Texans: I am on the Watson train big time. He has been very impressive the past two weeks. Sure, he has a tough match up against the Chiefs defense at home but Kansas City’s secondary has struggled thus far this season and Watson could pick them apart like he did the Titans last week. His scrambling ability makes him an appealing red zone play.

Latavius Murray, RB Vikings: Murray has been the forgotten man in Minnesota but that is about to change with Dalvin’s Cook’s injury. Murray is appealing because he will vulture all of the goal line carries for the Vikings.

Alvin Kamera, RB Saints: I grabbed Kamera in one of my league’s even though he is on a bye. Kamera could be a diamond in the rough moving forward, especially in a PPR league. The Saints have settled on him and Mark Ingram as their two backs. Grab Kamera this week if you can. He’ll be gone next week.

Will Fuller, WR Texans: Fuller is owned in roughly 20% of fantasy leagues. How is that possible. He is a big time vertical threat and now that he has a quarterback that can get him the ball consistently, he could be a lower tier WR2

Wayne Gallman, RB Clemson: Gallman was a three down back at Clemson who flashed big play potential in space. We saw a little of that last week against the Bucs. With Paul Perkins struggling, Gallman is going to get more carries. He could be a nice flex play this week against a mediocre Chargers defense at home.

Devin Funchess, WR Panthers: Funchess is starting to come into his own in Carolina’s offense. Cam Newton is starting to look his way more and Funchess is a match up nightmare in the red zone. He is only owned in 25% of league which makes him must add moving.

Elijah McGuire, RB Jets: McGuire might only be a short term play depending on the health of Matt Forte but if you need a back as a bye week fill in this week, McGuire makes perfect.

Jarron Brown, WR Cardinals: You could make the case Brown has been the Cardinals best receiver thus far this season. I am serious! That being said, he is only owned in 12% of fantasy leagues out there. Go out and get him if you need a bye week fill in. Brown might be more than that moving forward.

Drop Em!

Adrian Peterson, RB Saints: Peterson has no role in New Orleans and he looks old. Drop em! The Saints might.

Martellus Bennett, TE Packers: Bennett has been a non factor in the Packers offense thus far. It doesn’t appear that is going to change any time soon. Drop em!

Paul Perkins, RB Giants: And to think, people actually drafted Perkins as early as the third round in drafts. That is absurd. Perkins has done nothing in the Giants anemic offense. Drop em!

Dwayne Allen, TE Patriots: Allen is non-existent in the Patriots offense. Even if you are in a 12 team league, drop em!

Ravens Defense: I was tongue bathing the Ravens defense two weeks ago as being an elite unit. Since then, they have surrendered 72 points in two games. 44 of those points were to the Jaguars. Drop em!

Sammy Watkins, WR Rams: He had a breakout game against the Niners. Since then, he has been in witness protection. Cooper Kupp is the receiver to own on the Rams. When it comes to Watkins, drop em!

Kerwynn Williams, RB Cardinals: So much for Williams stepping in and producing in the absence of David Johnson. He has been a non factor in the Cardinals offense the last three weeks. Drop em!

Tyler Eifert, TE Bengals: If you are still waiting for Eifert to “heat up” and catch 10 touchdown passes this season, it is not going to happen. He is averaging one point per game right now. Enough said! Drop em!

Jeremy Hill, RB Bengals: The Bengals running back situation is a mess. Gio Bernard is the only back to own right now in Cincinnati. Mixon and Hill are non factors. Its time to drop Hill.

Mike Glennon, QB Bears: Glennon is probably only rostered in 12 or 16 team leagues. He was benched in favor of Mitchell Trubisky so drop Glennon, open up a roster spot and take a chance on either a running back or wide receiver. Drop em!
